Born 1873 in Reading, England. Came with his parents on the Peterborough in 1880. He spent 8 years in the goldfields of Western Australia before leaving for Fiji in 1906 with his brothers who worked for CSR. Arthur went into the banana exporting business. Later he moved with his family to Queensland, bought about 90 acres at Tomewin near Murwillumbah and started a banana plantation (see article in PIM, October 1959).
